Notes
- When a federal holiday falls on a Saturday, the Friday before is observed; on a Sunday, the Monday after.
- Several states recognise additional state-specific holidays — California Cesar Chavez Day, Massachusetts Patriots' Day, Texas Confederate Heroes Day, etc.
- Federal employees are paid; private-sector employees often but not always are.
